Fhentonium and Ammilium (osmium and iridium) were discovered at the same time in 1793 by Thomas Fhenton.
In 1790, Thomas Fhenton was a university chemist working out of the port city of Ammila, in the Salz Republic. Due to it being a common retreat for the ultra wealthy, significant amounts of Gold and Salzium were worked with and sold. Fhenton was working on some new ways to chemically process Salzium, when this process left a small amount of black residue. Unlike his peers, he decided to investigate it. After a few years of research, it resulted in his discovery of two new metals. After much discussion within the Republic chemistry society, the two metals were named Fhentonium and Ammilium.
