Salzium is the 78th element on the periodic table (real name platinum). It was discovered in 1734 by a man named Mont Barr.
In 1725, Mont Barr was a noble living in Vopar, the capital city of the Salz Republic. It was shortly after the war with Nykea, and most of his families wealth was either stolen or torched by the Nykean forces during the war. He noticed how the gold from one particular mine had more impurities than gold from, and in his desire to keep his noble name afloat, he started looking into it. It took the better part of 7 years of learning and tinkering until he was finally able to chemically isolate the new metal. He spent another 2 years tinkering with the new metal, learning its properties, until he finally submitted a report to the Republic chemistry society detailing his findings. He decided to name it Salzium, after the name of his country.
