Sub-Metre Parabolic Radio Observatory (SMPRO)

The SMPRO (Sub-Metre Parabolic Radio Observatory) is an observatory owned and operated by SARA located on Jarro Mountain in Saqalona

History

The SMPRO project was proposed in a paper released February 6th 1949. The SMPRO telescope began construction in early 1949 and finished in 1951. 

In late 1953 SARA purchased upgraded transistor based computers for the SMPRO facility from the Solair Triode Corporation, this was to replace the old vacuum tube systems which were slowly becoming obsolete.
