The Organised Defence Initiative of Carinidal (DEFUNCT)
The Organised Defence Initiative of Carinidal (ODIC), founded on 13 March 1955, was an intergovernmental military alliance from 1954-1959. The ODIC was a collective security system, its member states agreed to defend each other against attacks by third parties. ODIC's main headquarters were located in Lothundreg, Ciarraí.
The ODIC was administrated by the council of nations known as the commission. The commission voted on all matters pertaining to the ODIC. For votes to pass, the "Ayes" must have contained a majority vote, however, for votes on new applicant nations, they had to have a unanimous vote to pass.
The ODIC promoted democratic values and enabled members to consult and cooperate on defence and security-related issues to solve problems, build trust and, in the long run, prevent conflict. ODIC was committed to the peaceful resolution of disputes. If diplomatic efforts failed, it had the military power to undertake crisis-management operations. The ODIC was dissolved in late 1959 after the withdrawal of Ciarraí, Heng Hai, Kutsan, Reveia, Ashran and the beginning of the Selenian civil war, which the remaining members disapproved of being involved in.
