Premise
The main premise behind prop punk is that turbine engines were never invented, instead pistons and propellers continued to be the main form of aircraft propulsion even past the 1940s.
History
Prop-Punk started on the 24th of june 2023 when Messier82 posted a video titled "What if Jet Fighters Never Existed?" since then there have been a total of 14 videos posted under M82's Prop-Punk playlist.
Originally Prop-Punk started exclusively as a video series posted on the Messier82 YouTube channel however, it later became an online roleplaying game (Prop-Punk 1.0) as it gained its own catagory in the M82's Hangout Discord Server.
Prop-Punk 1.0
The first version of Prop-Punk, ran almost exclusively by Vlad, started canonically in the year of 1957 more than ten years after the end of the Great War. It consisted of many systems mostly confined to their own threads within the now prop punk general channel, these systems included nation and company submissions of which the (now defunct) nation of Dassakia (followed immediately by Saqalona) was the first nation submitted and SaCo was the first company submitted. The three main alliances of the current prop punk continuity, them being the Solair Pact, the Tasharkan Pact and the Dario Economic Bloc, were also created during this period. 1.0 ran roughly from the 24th June to the 15th of August 2023, having its start in the days following Messier's "What if Jet Fighters Never Existed" alt-history video.
Pre Reset
On the 15th of august 2023 Messier82 announced that Prop-Punk would be reset and the time turned back to 1947, just after the Great War:
"Prop punk! We are working hard on the reset. There will be a tech tree, quite a few confirmed countries, and a working submissions form for new spots! There is even an economy bot we are working on.
Due to complications in the tech tree, I've been wanting to reset the prop-punk world to **1947.** This is immedeately after the great war.
1: Tech tree simplicity. This allows us all to grow our technologies from scratch post-war.
2: Increased timing for propeller aircraft. Turboprops, and furthermore, super-props, will have an increased effectiveness.
3: Timeline movement. The timeline will advance **much faster** once all is complete with the reset. This one is pretty self-explanatory
but, @Flyout, I am giving you guys a vote anyways, since multiple people seemed to have problems with it. 👍 for 1947 and 👎 for 1957."
1947 won with 158 votes vs 24 votes for 1957.
The Long Wait For The Reset
On the 19th of September 2023 Iron Fox sent a message in #prop-punk-announcements that read as follows:"@everyone
I've talked a little with the team but we want to know if you want this
Do YOU the community want a road map with what we want to have done before prop punk release and after? This will NOT have any official date and time of release.
Yes
No"
To which Yes won with 366 votes vs 22 for No. Iron Fox followed up on the 19th of September with this roadmap that was made by JagJeg:

On the 9th of October 2023 Chernould sent the following message in #prop-punk-announcements:
"@Member Heyo peeps. To everyone that has an ACTUAL NATION THAT IS ON THE MAP/HAS BEEN CONFIRMED BY THE MOD TEAM, please DM me the name of your nation. Only the name of your nation and nothing else please. This upcoming week, I will be having one on one conversations with everyone about what vehicles, resources, etc they desire so we can meet halfway in the middle! Anybody that doesn’t DM me their nation’s name within the next few days will get their resources decided by the mods!"
On the 9th of of November 2023 Sunny opened resubmissions for nations that existed pre reset, the message was as follows:
"@PropPunk Players Right, this is
# ONLY FOR NATIONS THAT ALREADY EXIST, NOT CLAIMS, IF YOU HAVE ALREADY SENT ME THIS YOU DO NOT NEED TO DO IT AGAIN #
Please fill this sheet out if you own a nation that is 100% existing, not just a claim, also provide a map of your nation, dont try and god mode as a 10x10km island with 50 battleships cause ill just cry and shoot you down, please and many thanks, the best sunny wunny ever."
The sheet consisted of a series of general questions about the user's nation.
On the 13th of November 2023 Messier announced a major Prop-Punk update in the following message:
"@PropPunk Players firstly, read what spacy said above, that's important. but anyways...
# WE ARE UPDATING PROP PUNK AS A WHOLE.
There is a new subset of moderators!
**FOR THOSE OF YOU WITH QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS REGARDING PROP PUNK, PLEASE PING THE @Prop Punk Game Master ROLE.** These include our regular moderators, but leaves it to those more focused on prop punk.
Next, as we gear up for flyout's release, **we are behind on our roadmap for prop punk.** Although I like to be hopeful, please be patient with our moderation team. Some in-game events for countries and manufacturers should help tide us over until the time comes. I can't wait to show you guys what I've been planning :)
Lastly, **we are going to update our on-boarding process for prop punk as a whole.** This involves entirely restructuring the channels here, and managing the threads a little bit more appropriately. After some incidents in chat, we've decided that a verification system will need to be in place for prop punk. Many of you will be grandfathered in most likely, but it will help keep this whole part of my server a *little bit* more in control of the mod team.
Another ping will be sent through once we have made all the changes necessary, as well as some individual messages for any more planned changes. Thanks for reading!"
Followed by another message on the 26th of November 2023 as follows:
"@PropPunk Players Hello everyone! Some quick updates on the roadmap after the meeting we had this weekend:
**1. The site will not be ready for a long time and will be postponed indefinitely.** Jezithyr, our current tech mod working the most on the site, is having a lot of in real-life issues. We're working on figuring out a new system to get this ball rolling, especially now that Flyout is out!
**2. I am (trying) to work on a mini-game about the great war we can play!** Since many of the features of prop-punk are still being worked upon, I want to do something in the intermission! As we build the lore for the great war, we want *you guys* to participate! We'll do potential combat demos, plane building in flyout, and build this world together! Obviously, it'll be very restrictive, but you *will* be able to put your military might to the test! Speaking of lore...
**3. The Great War lore document is being entirely rewritten.** If you do not know, there was a great war document that a mod released with affiliate editing access. As you may have guessed, it did *not* go well, none of it followed the initial lore of the great war anyways. We're going to try something else, especially with these mini-games we are working on!
**4. Logistics and materials are under new management!** We've added a few new mods to the team, and I wanted to tell you guys that the mechanics for resources and logistics collection are being improved! This should encourage the growth of shipping, mining, and real trade/commerce between countries! I will not be *too* transparent yet, but I want to let you guys know how it's coming along!"
